New and Engaging Ways to Teach Price Controls with Eric Fields
Description: In the market, prices are pivotal. They carry information about preferences and costs. They act as a signal and an incentive. But what happens when society decides that a particular price is problematic? When we collectively decide that a market price is too low, we enact price floors (the minimum wage). If we decide that the price is too high, we go with a price ceiling (rent control, price gouging). Why do we do this? What impact does it have? Who benefits and who is harmed? What is lost when we do this? Find out the answer to these questions and more in this interactive workshop complete with standards-based lessons and activities.
